The Tesla Cybercab has no steering wheel and no pedals. It is designed to operate continuously with minimal human intervention.
Fleet composition
The initial fleet is planned at ten Cybercab vehicles. Fleet size is a function of capital raised, vehicle availability and observed utilization in the market, and is reviewed as each of those inputs changes.
What is established as of 17 September 2026: the Cybercab is a two-seat vehicle with no steering wheel or pedals, built at Gigafactory Texas. Tesla told investors in July 2026 that production had started and that production vehicles were being tested on public roads; paid rides began in Austin on 3 September 2026.
What is not established: Tesla has published no consumer or fleet purchase price and operates no order page. The widely quoted "$30,000 or less" is a target stated by its chief executive (February 2026, "before 2027"), not a price list. On 3 September 2026 Tesla circulated an interest form for "Cybercab fleet vehicle purchasing" without disclosing price or terms. Every vehicle-cost figure on this site is therefore a placeholder until Tesla publishes one, and the acquisition line in the use of proceeds should be read that way.

Cleaning cycles, scheduled maintenance, tire and brake wear, software updates and damage repair.
Retirement
Resale or disposal at the point where maintenance cost per mile exceeds the return on continued operation.
